Airline axes Gatwick bag handler

Leisure airline Monarch has terminated two contracts with Swissport, one of the baggage-handling companies at Gatwick airport. It follows chaotic scenes last weekend, when passengers were left waiting for up to three hours for luggage. Gatwick said Swissport was failing to meet the airport's service standards, which was "not good enough". But Swissport said last weekend's problems were exceptional, and should not be repeated. It has blamed the delays on too many aircraft arriving in quick succession - either late or early - which…

Sing your heart out at the U21 Manchester derby

City's Elite Development Squad kick-off their 2014/15 season with a mouth-watering Cup Final tie against neighbours United - and we want you to be there to support the boys in Blue. Patrick Vieira's side lock horns with the Reds on Thursday 7 August at Ewen Fields, Hyde and although the allocation will be split 50-50, we're hoping the advantage of home soil, coupled by a vocal City following, will spur our lads on to victory. With only half of the allocation available…

Control centre 'successful' The FBU said there had been a series of problems…

Both players drank in their new surrounds and, for the first time, were able to get a sense of exactly what it will feel like when football hits the five boroughs in 2015. Mail: City's World Cup stars to miss start of season?

City’s entertaining clash with Liverpool last night was the talk of NYC as Yankee Stadium passed the soccer-test with flying colours ahead of New York City FC’s inaugural MLS season. A brace for the second consecutive International Champions Cup game in a row from the red-hot Stevan Jovetic wasn’t enough as the reds levelled late on through Raheem Sterling and went on to win the resulting penalty shoot-out 3-1. “If it was strange to see a capacity Yankee Stadium crowd covered with…
